Amsterdam Photo Diary - Day 1

I got back from my trip to Amsterdam last Wednesday and I have finally had time to write up a blog post on my trip. I had such a lovely time and I wish we could have stayed longer, these are just my photos from Day 1 because there are so many so I'm going to split up each day into separate posts. We only got to Amsterdam around 5 o'clock so we went straight to our hotel to drop off our bags and then went out for something to eat.

We then went for a walk around the center and took lots of photos of the pretty canals and flower boxes. I saw lots of really cool bikes including this milka chocolate one which I loved! We popped in too a newsagent to buy some water and milka chocolate and I saw 'Cannabis pops' for sale, it seems strange seeing them because Cannabis obviously isn't legal here but it is in Amsterdam, I'm not sure if these were real or a jokey thing though. At about 10-11 o'clock we went to a cute little pub on the corner just down from our hotel ,there pubs are different than ours,  they are quite small and cosy and in the evening they serve coffee and hot chocolate and have candles lit outside. We got hot chocolates and my parents got coffee's and as soon as we sat down this resident little white cat climbed straight onto my knee for a nap! Unfortunately I was wearing black leggings but never mind eyy! She was such a cute little cat and I wanted to keep her or smuggle her up to our hotel room.

And that was the end of day one, we were all really tired so we just went back to our hotel room after that. I will post about day 2 and 3 in the next few days hopefully! I also need to do a ' Car boot finds' post from this weekend but I'm worried people find them a bit repetitive so let me know if you would or wouldn't like to see one. Sorry I haven't had much time to post recently, I am doing my work experience at place that does card designs at the moment and I am there from 9-5:30 so I don't have much free time, but I will be back soon!

Happy Halloween Bunting - DIY

Make some flag templates by using a diamond shape (I did this on pages on a mac, but you can do it it word/publisher etc), then fill them with different Halloween patterns, I just searched for 'Halloween patterns' on Google images! I then downloaded this font and spelled out 'Happy Halloween' with 1 letter per flag. (I'm sorry I tried to upload the flag documents but blogger won't let me :(, because then you could have all used the same ones, but if anybody wants me to email it to them just let me know and tell me whether you would like it in a format for mac or pc))

You will need scissors, double sided sticky tape or pritt stick, and some string ( I used black for Halloween)

Cut out all of the flag shapes and lay them down in order.

 Take a length of string ( I didn't cut mine until I finished as I wasn't sure how long it would be) and fold your flags in half.

Place strips of double-sided sticky tape onto the inside of the flag and peel away the non-sticky paper.

Place your flag under the string and fold the flag in half, keeping the string at the top!

 They your flag should look like this, keep going and don't forget to leave a bigger gap between the end of 'Happy' and the start 'Halloween'

 You now have your very own handmade Halloween bunting! I hope you like it!

The Power of Photoshop - not everything is as it seems

 I just wanted to make this post to show everyone the power of Photoshop. I would like to think that it makes people feel better seeing unedited photos of peoples, because not all photos that you see in magazines, for example of pretty models, are what they really look like. In the edited versions of the photos above I have edited my hair colour, eye colour, removed spots added deeper contours to my face and shaped my eyebrows etc! I am happy to be completely honest about this and I think it's pretty obvious I have edited them anyway as my eyes aren't brown hehe! I am by no means a whiz on Photoshop or particularly great at editing portraits but I love changing around my hair colour and eye colour etc!

Photobooth Snaps

Here are a few silly snaps that me and my friend Robyn took on photobooth. As you may or may not know I have had my foot operated on, so I am stuck not doing much for a while, so all my friends have been visiting me. This has resulted in many silly photos on my photobooth. I also got a new mac as an early birthday present (my birthday is on the 25th July... (In case you all want to send me presents ;) ) only  kidding! So Robyn and I took many photos using the new effects, there were some hilarious chipmunk ones too but I didn't have any more room in my collage. 

I am very excited too because I get my stitches out on Tuesday, (that sounds so lame ahah, but yes I'm excited to go to hospital) But hopefully after that I will be able to put a bit of weight on my foot which means I can go out again :D I am supposed to be able to put light weight on my foot now whilst wearing that snazzy shoe that I featured in one of my posts, but because they put the bandage around my ankle on too tight, I can't get my foot at a 90 degree angle, if that makes sense, 

so I haven't been able to walk on it yet.

I am  having a tea-party for my birthday! (Alice in wonderland themed) which I am also very excited for, so expect a post about that. Oh and by the way ignore my hair in the third photo, I didn't know what to do with it so I stuck it up, and now in the photo it looks like I have a turnip growing out of my head haha!
